High profile hip hop group Cypress Hill, and dubstep Producer/DJ, Rusko are combining forces for a new album. The five song EP naturally called, “Cypress Hill X Rusko,” was recorded over six months. Sen Dog of Cypress Hill said of the collaboration, “I think dubstep is a natural progression of hip-hop. Especially the way that we formulated it with Rusko. Who’s ready for the Olympics? Blur is. The English Alternative band was announced as the closing act of the 2012 London Olympics. The event takes place in Hyde Park on August 12th. The group will be the headliner of what is being billed as the “Best of British,” with additional bands being the Specials and New Order, among others. Blur Frontman Damon Albarn was had this to say about the event, “It’ll be a proper party. It’s the closing night of the Olympics. Our raison d’etre is to provide another celebration of a fantastic day.” Tickets will cost around £55 (just under $90) and presale starts February 22; 9 a.m. GMT, with general sales starting Friday February 24 9 a.m. GMT.

Just under 11 years after his death, punk rock legend Joey Ramone will have another posthumous album released. The 17 song album, recorded before and after the breakup of the Ramones will be Joey’s second posthumous release, will be titled “Ya Know”, and will be a sequel of sorts to 2002’s Don’t Worry About Me. The album is set to be released on May 15th, and includes songs: “Rock & Roll Is the Answer,” “New York City,” and “Waiting for That Railroad.”

The lineup for this year’s New York Governor’s Ball was just released this past week. Headlining the event this eyar will be Beck, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill. The two day gala will take place on June 23rd and 24th, and will be set on Randall’s Island, not on Governor’s Island as past years have taken place there. General admission starts on Friday at 10 a.m. and prices will range from $95 for a one day pass to $300 for a 2-day VIP pass. Here is the itinerary for the event:

This week’s Emerging Artist of the Weeks is none other than Without Papers! Based out of San Diego, CA, the band has a strong, distinct reggae rock feel similar to that of Sublime, but has their own unique identity that sets them apart from some of their other contemporaries in the scene today. Lead singer Jarrod Pellegrini smooth vocal delivery enables the songs to have a strong melodic groove and the guitars further enhance his rich vocals which gives it that extra push towards the finish line. A great upstart band to pay attention to further on down the road. Some standout tracks for you to check out include “Past Is Not Present” and “Let Me Hear You Loud”.

Fans of the British pop group Dexys Midnight Runners will be happy to know that they have announced plans to release their first full length album in 27 years. The band, now going by the name Dexys will release it’s fourth release by the title “ One Day I’m Going to Soar,” on June 4th. The band has already released two minutes from “Now,” a new song on the album.

As we noted a couple weeks ago, Jack White is working on a new solo album coming out April 24th. Today, we learned that White is coinciding that with a mini-tour of America (including a single show in England).

Festizio have been keeping busy in the studio working on a brand new studio album! The band have been working feverishly in order to get this album out to their devoted fans sometime this year. Nothing is available in terms of an album title or release date, but once that information has been finalized, we’ll pass that along to you.

Stiletto Ghetto have just finished mastering their take on Ozzy Osbourne’s hit “Tomorrow”. The song will appear on an Ozzy tribute album titled “Millenium: A Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne”, which is slated for release on May 8. The album will available at local Best Buy outlets, so keep your eyes peeled there upon its release.

Roosevelt Radio are gearing up for a big show early next month that will give local Bay area concertgoers the chance to check out some of the local bands that are looking to gain prominence throughout the area. Since being criticized for giving a less-than-stellar appearance on Saturday Night Live, singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey has decided to postpone her 30 date U.S. tour. The postponement came after Del Rey’s booking agents and Interscope top brass Jimmy Iovine decided that she wasn’t ready for tour. “They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from SNL,” a source told the New York Post’s Page Six. The tour was set to promote Del Rey’s second studio album “Born to Die.” Del Ray is still set to perform at the Grammys honoring Iovine.

After an invigorating Super Bowl halftime show, Madonna will now hold a 2012 World Tour, her first world tour since her “Sticky & Sweet Tour” in 2008 and 2009. The tour begins on May 29th in Tel Aviv, Israel and lasts until November 17 in Atlanta, Georgia. Check to see if she stops in your area :

Legendary Reggae singer Bob Marley will finally get a documentary on his life this April. The autobiography will be entitled “Marley” and comprises of rare and archival footage, and interviews with friends and family that knew him well. It will tell the tale of his earliest days with the Wailers, to his rise to international superstardom. “This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father’s life … The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey,” said Ziggy Marley in a statement. “Marley” will be executive produced by Marley’s son Ziggy and Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records, and is distributed by Magnolia Pictures in conjunction with VH1’s award winning Rock Doc franchise. The documentary premieres at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival this February, and premieres in the United States at South by Southwest in March. “Marley” premiere’s on April 20th on VH1.

British singer M.I.A. has confirmed to Zane Lowe of the BBC that she will accompany Nicki Minaj and Madonna at the Super Bowl on Sunday with a performance of “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” She was quoted saying “Yes, I’m going to the Super Bowl… I’m gonna be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj… If you’re gonna go to the Super Bowl, you might as well go with America’s biggest female icons.” The song is Madonna’s first single off her “M.D.N.A.” album. In related news, M.I.A. also released a new single on Monday entitiled “Bad Girls.”

Jack White, former frontman of the White Stripes will drop his first solo album on April 24th after annoucing the band’s breakup just under a year ago. The album, titled “Blunderbuss,” will be released on White’s Third Man Recordings label. The album’s first single will be called “Love Interruption” and has already been released on his website www.jackwhiteiii.com

White released a press statement, “I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

The Foo Fighters are throwing a fundraising concert in support of US president Barack Obama’s re-election. The concert will happen on February 15 in Holmby Hills, California at the home of Bradley Bell, a soap opera producer. Tickets will range anywhere from $235 to $1,500. Frontman Dave Grohl voiced his opinion on the up-coming election saying “He’s got the toughest job on earth…I would hate to hand the administration over to another party that is just focused on corporations, greed and money.” He went on the say, “You know, I’m a fun, peace-loving guy, but sometimes the right wing gets a little too selfish.”

British singer Adele will make a surprise performance at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards on February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This will be her first time preforming live since after having surgery repairing her vocal chords, forcing her to cancel a sold-out tour in the United States. The singer/songwriter is also nominated for six awards including Record of the Year and Song of the Year (Rolling in the Deep), and Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album with “21.” The album was the top-selling album of 2011 in the U.S. selling over 5.81 million copies. Adele said in a statement, “I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards, it’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.” She will join a number of other artists and band performing at the ceremony including Rihanna and Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, The Foo Fighters, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, and the Band Perry. The event will air live on CBS except for those on the West Coast, check your local listings.

Kanye West was booed during his performance at the Big Day Out show in Australia on Sunday. He was 45 minutes late for his show, blaming the delay on the rain. Then the booing started to ensue. Also at the show was Soundgarden lead guitarist Chris Cornell, who wasn’t thrilled with the delay eating into his show time. He was quoted as saying: “Sounds like there’s children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in held back. There’s no other word for it.” No word from Kanye yet, but Cornell took to Twitter yesterday to clarify his statements. “My comments at [Big Day Out] were directed solely at inadequate tour production,” Cornell stated. “Kanye had nothing to do with it! We love him.”

The Parsnip Revolt are currently hard at work in the studio working on some new material for their next release. It’s currently in the pre-production phase and we’ll keep you updated once we know the name of the record and when we can expect it to be released. They are also nominated for a WSTW “Homey” Award so click here to cast your vote for them as well in the contest!

The band formerly known as The New Bolsheviks now has a new name! They are now Ghosts on TV and will be playing a show for some concertgoers on 3/11/2012 at The Note in West Chester, PA. Check them out if you live in the area and see what they bring to the table.

The Great Socio have a show coming up of note that will present concertgoers with an opportunity to discover local bands that haven’t heard before and see what they have to offer. This show will happen on 4/13/2012 at The Grape Room in downtown Philly. Keep this date in mind as it’s still a couple of months away.

Even The Slept are currently hard at work on their brand new EP. The band just started tracking vocals for the effort and the band say the effort is coming along pretty smoothly. We’ll keep you updated with further updates on this as soon as we get them in.

Maine based rock group trio, Loki is getting set to release their new EP entitled “Braving the Storm.” The EP will be the band’s sixth release. Loki bassist Seth McClellan said regarding the new EP, “The idea was record an honest rock record with all the intensity, emotion and imperfections intact. We set out to make these songs feel as true to a live experience as possible.” The new EP was recorded in 1130 Ft. Recording Studio in downtown Rollinsford, NH. The owner, Christopher Chase, has produced for some top artists such as, Smash Mouth, The Gin Blossoms, and Wyclef Jean.

Loki was originally formed in 2000 by vocalist Jon Taylor and guitarist Jonathan Boyer. The band has gone through many of the struggles that accompany and up-and-coming bands, including shady promoters, numerous lineup changes, and empty shows. 2007 saw mainstay members Adam Nichols and Seth McClellan officially added to the group. In 2010 founding member Jon Taylor left the band, and Loki was then on known as a power trio.
